The Section of Neuro-oncology of the Argentine Society of Cancerology organized the “Sixth Annual Brain Tumour Awareness Day” It took place on October 24th, 2017 in the building of the Argentine Medical Association - AMA (Buenos Aires). The Argentine Association of Neurosurgery AANC; the Latin American Federation of Neurosurgical Societies FLANC; and SNOLA (Society for Neuro-Oncology Latin America) also gave their academic support to the meeting.

Representants of several societies joint us: on behalf of the Argentine Association of Neurosugery AANC: Dr Juan J Mezzadri VicePresident, Dr Marcelo Platas (Past President), Dr Silvia Berner (Coordinator of Tumor Section), Dr José Cascarino, Dr Roberto Zaninovich and Dr Diego Hernández; on behalf of Argentine Society of Radiotherapy SATRO: Dr Luisa Rafailovici (Past President),Dr Ana Martínez (Coordinator of Neuroncology Section) and Dr Máximo Barros; on behalf of Argentine Society of Pathology, Dr Gustavo Sevlever and Dr Silvia Christiansen; on behalf of the Argentine Society of Cancerology, Dr Clelia Vico (PastPresident), Dr Marina Bramajo (Vocal), Dr Diego Prost, Dr Alejandro Muggeri and Dr Marcelo Blanco Villaba (President).

We focused in the proposal of quality management improvement , based on the findings observed in the previous Argentine Survey “The accessibility to diagnostic methods and treatment of brain tumors in Argentina” published in Surgical Neurology International; 2017. link: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5482164/. (open accesss). People from different disciplines such as neurosurgery, neuro-oncology, radiation therapies, psycho-oncologists, and palliative participated enthusiastically, especially the neuropathologists, proposing possible but necessary ideas in a realistic frame. And our Section assumed the commitment of supporting individuals, related scientific societies or groups in the processes.

We are also working with the AANS/CNS Section on tumors to develop fellowship in U.S.A. for young neurosurgeons of Argentina.

A great effort was made to continue with this kind of meeting, high quality from the academic point of view, and open to the scientific community, free access. Through these initiatives, we hope to continue foster education with the ultimate goal to provide an equitable neurosurgery practice for the people of Argentina.
